History

Origins of CHITOSE go back to the Keicho Period (1596-1615) of the Edo Era, when the Yamazakiya oil shop was established in the Hirokoji area of Ueno. Since then, we have been handling oil, a product indispensable to society, developing our business and accumulating know-how for almost 400 years.
Since the present company’s foundation in 1948 by Yoshio Sasano, Chitose & Co., Ltd. has established firm connections for the development of our service stations through an agent agreement with Maruzen Oil (which became Cosmo Oil in 1986 through a merger with Daikyo Oil).
